Contact Lens Exams & Fittings in Katy, TX

Eye Vantage fits contact lenses for adults, teens and children at our office on FM 529 in Katy. Whether you're a first-time wearer or your current lenses feel dry by afternoon, Dr. Sarah Hung, OD, finds a lens that's comfortable and gives you clear vision all day.

Why a contact lens exam is different

A contact lens sits directly on your eye, so a glasses prescription isn't enough. A contact lens exam adds measurements of the curve and size of your eye, checks your tear film, and confirms the lens fits and moves correctly. That's why a contact lens fitting is a separate service from a routine eye exam.

Lenses we fit

  • Daily disposables: a fresh, clean pair every day, with no solution or cases

  • Two-week and monthly lenses: budget-friendly for full-time wearers

  • Toric lenses for astigmatism

  • Multifocal lenses for adults over 40 who need help seeing up close

  • Lenses for dry eyes: materials designed to hold moisture

  • MiSight 1 day: myopia control lenses for children

  • Scleral lenses for irregular corneas, keratoconus and severe dry eye. See scleral and specialty lenses.

  • Hybrid lenses: a rigid center for sharp vision with a soft outer skirt for comfort

  • Colored lenses

What happens at your fitting

  1. Eye exam and measurements. We check your vision and eye health, then measure your cornea and tear film.

  2. Lens recommendation. We talk about your schedule, screen time, sports and budget, then choose a lens.

  3. Trial lenses. You try the lenses in the office, and we check the fit under the microscope.

  4. Insertion and removal training for new wearers.

  5. Follow-up. You wear trial lenses for about a week. A short follow-up visit confirms comfort and vision before you order a supply.

Cost, insurance and ordering

Many vision plans include a contact lens allowance, and some cover part of the fitting. Without insurance, a contact lens fitting has its own fee on top of the eye exam; call us for current pricing. We check your benefits before your visit and accept FSA, HSA and CareCredit (see payment options). You can reorder lenses in our office or over the phone.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a contact lens exam?

A contact lens fitting has its own fee, in addition to the eye exam. Call us for current self-pay pricing. Many vision plans cover part of it. We'll check your benefits before you come in.

Can I get contacts if I have astigmatism?

Yes. Toric contact lenses correct astigmatism, and today's toric lenses are available in daily, two-week and monthly options.

I'm over 40 and struggle to read up close. Can I still wear contacts?

Yes. Multifocal contact lenses let you see far and near without reading glasses. Dr. Hung can also discuss monovision as an option.

My contacts feel dry. What can I do?

Newer lens materials and daily disposables often help. We also check for dry eye disease, which is treatable. See dry eye treatment.

How old does a child need to be for contacts?

There's no set age. Many children ages 8 and up handle daily lenses well, and MiSight lenses are approved for children who start at ages 8–12.

Why do I need a new contact lens prescription every year?

Contact lens prescriptions are usually valid for one year. A yearly check makes sure the lenses still fit well and aren't harming your eyes.
